West Virginia officials are holding a public, day-long program on information and cyber security. The state Office of Technology has scheduled an Oct. 5 event to recognize National Information and Cyber Security Awareness month. Officials say the free event will take place at the Culture Center Theater at the State Capitol Complex.
The event is being hosted by Jim Richards, the state's Chief Information Security Officer. Presentations will be delivered by experts in the areas of cyber threats, effective practices to safeguard systems and data, with an emphasis on individual accountability, risk management, and privacy issues. The event also will be webcast live on the Internet.
